Full description of the Luxor crank-adjustable standing desk

This standing desk is available in two different sizes – the 48″ size and also a 60″ version. For most people the 48″ would probably be sufficient as this gives you plenty of workspace, but if you need more you have the 60″ version to choose from too.

The design of the Luxor desk is a simple one; it converts from a sitting desk 29″ tall to a standing desk of maximum height 43″. You change height with the use of a crank handle which moves the desk up and down as you rotate it either way. The good news is that the crank is easy to turn and the desk height can be altered with very little effort, especially when weighed down by your equipment on the desk surface.

At the time of writing the Luxor standing desk comes in only one color option (dark walnut) but other colors are available in Luxor’s electric standing desk range. The legs are made from metal and are powder-coated gray so the desk should blend in easily with almost all color schemes.

Supporting the desk are the legs and a brace which is fixed directly beneath the desk surface. Other than that there is no cross bar between the legs so it would be easy to tuck away a seat or stool underneath the desk when you’re done for the day.

This is a good quality desk and well worth your consideration.

Review summary (what people think about it)

The response by customers to the Luxor standing desk is overwhelmingly-positive. OK, at over 350 bucks it is not cheap, but you can’t really put a price on your health and wellbeing. If you want to establish a routine using a standing desk and make it a habit for life then this is a product that will serve you well. In the grand scheme of things it is not a lot to pay. You could pay a lot more for a motorised desk so you may feel the manual crank handle is a concession worth making.

The desk comes in two sizes as already mentioned so work surface space is not going to be an issue for anyone. It is a big item and needs assembling when you receive it, but that’s not a difficult exercise. Typically it can be put together in 30 minutes.

The Luxor desk is a very solid and robust piece of furniture. It doesn’t feel cheap, it feels built to last. Stability is key with standing desks and stability is what you get with this item. The desk surface quality scores well and it does not chip or mark easily so that’s more bonus points.

Portability and manoeuvrability is another feather in the cap of the Luxor desk. It is easy to move around on its casters and is almost silent when it does so. If you are a very tall person it has been reported that it goes high enough even if you are 6′ 6″ tall, so that should cover most people. If you’re much shorter then don’t worry, it will still be fine.

When assembling you can place the crank on either side so that will suit you if you are a left-hander. The crank is easy to operate and although it does require a good number of turns to get the height of the desk up to where you want it to be there is not much effort in doing this. The number of crank turns is perhaps the only gripe people had about this desk, but it doesn’t detract from what is a terrific crank-adjustable standing desk.
